Exploring SAP Analytics Cloud (SACE 11): Using the SAP Analytics Cloud Calendar

🎯 Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Add and manage tasks using the SAP Analytics Cloud Calendar.

  • Track and collaborate on planning and data workflows.

  • Manage scheduled publications.

📅 Calendar Tasks Overview

The SAP Analytics Cloud Calendar helps you organize planning, reporting, and collaboration activities through structured workflows.

Key Features:

  • Task creation: Set up tasks for yourself or assign to others.

  • Workflow management: Use composite tasks and processes to manage multiple steps.

  • Collaboration tools: Add reviewers, comments, and files.

  • Reminders: Set alerts for due dates.

  • Status tracking: Monitor progress of tasks from draft to completion.

  • Timeline view: Visualize your calendar by day, week, or month.

🛠️ Types of Tasks You Can Create:

  • General Task: A simple task with a due date and assigned user(s).

  • Review Task: A task with a review step included.

  • Composite Task: A parent task composed of several sub-tasks.

  • Process: A structured flow with multiple dependent tasks.

👤 Collaborative Features:

  • Assign multiple owners and reviewers.

  • Use the commenting system to provide context or feedback.

  • Attach stories, files, and links relevant to the task.

🕒 Scheduled Publications in the Calendar

You can also use the calendar to manage the automatic distribution of stories.

📌 Features of Scheduled Publications:

  • Stories or applications are sent on a schedule (e.g., weekly reports).

  • Each publication job appears on the calendar.

  • You can view, modify, copy, or delete these jobs directly from the calendar.

  • Permissions: Only users with the “Manage” permission on Schedule Publication can change or delete publication schedules.

Business Use Case:

You’ve been asked to collect updated forecasts from department leads by Friday. You:

  1. Create a composite task in the calendar.

  2. Assign each team member a sub-task for their forecast input.

  3. Set reminders and a review step for final approval.

  4. Schedule an automatic report publication for the next Monday.
